Setiap zat padat memiliki besaran yang disebut koefisien muai panjang. Koefisien muai panjang suatu zat adalah angka yang menunjukan pertambahan panjang suatu zat apabila suhunya dinaikan sebesar 1°C. Telah dilakukan rancang bangun alat uji pemuaian yang berhasil menunjukan fenomena pemuaian pada spesimen besi, tembaga dan kuningan. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengujian alat tersebut untuk mengetahui nilai akurasi dan presisinya serta ketidakpastian. Proses dilakukan dengan material besi, tembaga dan kuningan. Pada pengujian berulang menunjukan nilai muai panjang besi 0,000053/°C, tembaga 0,000024/°C dan kuningan 0,000029/°C. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa akurasi alat pada uji spesimen besi, tembaga dan kuningan berurutan adalah 345 %, 41%, dan -6%. Sedangkan untuk nilai spesimen secara berurutan 75%, 26% dan 29%. Hal tersebut menunjukan nilai akurasi dan presisi yang belum baik. Dikarenakan nilai koefisien refrensi besi, tembaga dan kuningan secara berurutan adalah 0,000012/°C, 0,000017/°C dan 0,000019/°C. Serat pohon terap umumnya digunakan masyarakat adat Dayak untuk membuat tali dan baju adat. Penelitian ini merupakan upaya pemanfaatan serat pohon terap menjadi bahan komposit. Dalam penelitian ini komposit tersusun dari polyester sebagai matriks dan serat pohon terap sebagai <em>filler</em>. Komposisi <em>filler</em> yang digunakan yakni 30%, 40%, dan 50%. Komposit dibuat dengan cara <em>hand lay-up.</em> Komposit yang telah dibuat diuji mekanik dengan uji daya serap dan uji kekerasan. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa semakin besar variasi <em>filler</em> yang digunakan maka nilai kekuatan daya serap dan kekerasan akan menurun. Hasil uji daya serap air tertinggi 0.0159% pada variasi 50%.
