ANALISIS DAN OPTIMASI DESIGN PLTS DI HYDROGEN PLANT: STUDI KASUS PLTU BANTEN 1 SURALAYA
Abstract
The Indonesian government's commitment to achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060. PT PLN has been developing a hydrogen ecosystem through the establishment of Hydrogen Refueling Stations and the production of green hydrogen utilizing existing hydrogen plant at their power generation facilities. Current solar power plant installed in Banten 1 Suralaya CFPP is unable to fully meet the electricity demand required for green hydrogen production. The existing PV system generates 37.145 MWh of electricity, whereas the annual energy demand of the hydrogen production equipment reaches 178.681 MWh. Monte Carlo simulation results indicate an energy deficit ranging 383-387 kWh per day for green hydrogen production. An added PV system was selected from several alternatives using the Analytical Hierarchy Process based on predefined criteria and alternatives. The selected location was the Maintenance Workshop area. System design and annual energy production were evaluated using PVsyst 8.0.6 simulation software. The simulation results show, added PV system can fully supply the hydrogen production equipment with NRE during the period from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. During these hours, PV generation exceeds the hydrogen production load demand, resulting in surplus energy that cannot be exported due to inverter operating limitations. Therefore, the integration of a Battery Energy Storage System is recommended to improve energy utilization. From techno-economic assessment shows the feasibility of the proposed project, with an initial investment cost of USD 38,704, a Net Present Value (NPV) of USD 4,077, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 11.54%, and a payback period of 7 years.
