Improving Produktion Technology of Processed Seaweed on Poklahsar Swakarya Bersama in Penajam Paser Utara
Abstract
North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) consists of 4 sub-districts, 24 sub-districts and 30 villages with an area of 3,333.06 km². The ocean area is 272.24 square kilometers, and the coastline is 148.23 km long. One potential that can be developed is seaweed commodities. The Swakarya Bersama fish processing and marketing group (Poklahsar) is a group of MSMEs located in Tanjung Tengah Subdistrict, North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) East Kalimantan Province with processed products made from seaweed as partners in this community service. Poklahsar Swakarya Bersama still has several obstacles, one of which is the long production process time. The service program provides a solution to this problem through mechanization of the mixing and kneading machine process. The service program begins with discussions with partners through interviews, problem mapping, as well as designing and making tools. Problem mapping pays attention to obstacles, solutions and the impacts that will arise. The reverse engineering method is used in tool design. The testing process using 2 kg of cassava as the basic ingredient takes 10-15 minutes, while using a mortar takes 3 hours. Measurable mixing and kneading equipment can shorten the production process time for tortilla chips and save energy.
