Abstract

This Research and Development study, utilizing the ADDIE model, aimed to develop a cryptarithmetic E-Book to enhance the logical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through expert validation, practicality questionnaires, and pretest and posttest instruments. The results indicate that the E-Book is highly valid, with content validity and media validity scores of 96% and 92%, respectively. The media also demonstrated high practicality based on teacher assessments (100%) and student responses (96%). Following implementation, students showed significant cognitive improvement, achieving N-Gain scores of 0.81 for logical thinking and 0.73 for mathematical reasoning. It is concluded that integrating cryptarithmetic puzzles into an interactive E-Book creates a valid, practical, and effective medium for fostering higher-order thinking skills in elementary school students.
