Strategi Koping Pada Wanita Usia Produktif Dalam Meningkatkan Kesehatan Jiwa
Abstract
Mental health problems are currently not prioritized when compared to infectious diseases in developing countries. However, in seeking mental health, a self-defense mechanism is needed, namely coping strategies, so as to achieve a good quality of life without feeling fear and pressure in life. Stress can affect a person's physical, mental and emotional condition. Therefore, each individual must use coping strategies in order to control themselves and their emotions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using coping strategies on the mental health of productive-age women. The research method used a quantitative approach, namely quasi-experimental research with a One Group Pretest - Posttest design. Sampling using accidental sampling techniques obtained 40 people who were productive-age women in Rappojawa Village RW 004 Makassar City. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of the application of coping strategies on the mental health of productive-age women. The use of Problem-Focused Coping is effective in situations that can be controlled while Emotion-Focused Coping is more suitable for situations that cannot be changed. The combination of the two, adjusted to the context of the problem, can increase resilience and psychological well-being. With this, it is hoped that women of productive age can access counseling or psychological therapy services that can help them better understand and overcome their mental problems.
