ENHANCING JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' MATHEMATICS COMMUNICATION SKILLS THROUGH RODE LEARNING MODEL

Abstract


This study aims to determine the influence of the RODE learning model on the mathematical comunication skills of junior high school students on data presentasion materials. A quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design was apllied to 60 students selected using a simple random sampling technique, 30 in the experimental and control classes. Data on students' mathematical communication skills were collected using four questions each for pretest and posttest. The result of the descriptive analysis showed that the average score of mathematical communication skills of student in the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The results of the t-test showed a t-count of 4.503 with a t-table of 1.671 with a significance value of 5% because t-count> t-table, the average communication skills of student in the experimental class was lower than the average of control class was rejected.Thus, it was conclude that the RODE learning model influenced the mathematical communication skills of junior high school student on the data presentasion material. The results of this study are coherent and emperical evidence of the effectiveness of the RODE learning model in affecting students' communication skills
