Civil Engineering Scientific Journal (CESJ) takes responsibility for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors may occasionally be identified after an article has been published. Any corrections or retractions will be handled transparently and in accordance with established publication-ethics principles and the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error or omission is identified in a published article that affects the accuracy, clarity, or integrity of the article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.
An Erratum may be issued to correct errors introduced by the authors, such as factual, methodological, numerical, or other substantive errors. The correction will clearly describe the error and the corresponding amendment. Where applicable, the potential effect of the correction on the results or conclusions will be stated.
The original article will normally remain available online, with a clear link to the correction notice. The correction notice will be freely accessible and permanently linked to the original article to maintain the integrity and transparency of the scholarly record.
Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning, scientific content, metadata, or interpretation of an article may be corrected without issuing a formal correction notice, at the discretion of the journal.
Retractions
A Retraction is issued when an article is found to contain serious problems that make its findings or conclusions unreliable, or when the publication violates fundamental standards of research or publication ethics.
An article may be retracted for reasons including, but not limited to:
-
clear evidence of fabrication or falsification of data;
-
serious research or publication misconduct;
-
substantial plagiarism;
-
duplicate or redundant publication;
-
unreliable findings resulting from major errors;
-
unethical research or failure to comply with relevant ethical requirements;
-
serious authorship or conflict-of-interest violations; or
-
other circumstances that substantially compromise the integrity of the published work.
The retracted article will normally remain available online to preserve the scholarly record, but it will be clearly identified as RETRACTED. A freely accessible retraction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article.
The retraction notice will clearly state the reason(s) for the retraction and, where appropriate, identify whether the decision was made by the authors, editors, or publisher. If the authors do not agree with the retraction, this disagreement may be noted in the retraction notice.
Authors may request the retraction of their article when they identify substantial errors or ethical concerns. However, the final decision to retract an article rests with the journal's Editor-in-Chief or the appropriate editorial authority after evaluation of the evidence.
Removal of Published Articles
CESJ considers the removal of a published article to be an exceptional measure. An article will not normally be removed from the journal's online archive because doing so may compromise the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record.
In rare and exceptional circumstances, an article may be removed or its content restricted when its continued availability creates serious legal, privacy, ethical, or other exceptional risks. Bibliographic information about the article will be retained whenever possible to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Editorial and Production Corrections
When an error is introduced during the editorial or production process and affects the article's metadata or significantly affects the understanding of the published work, CESJ may issue a Publisher's Note or an appropriate correction notice.
The correction will clearly identify the nature of the error and the date on which the correction was made. The journal will ensure that the corrected information is appropriately linked to the original publication.
Transparency of the Scholarly Record
All correction and retraction notices published by CESJ will be clearly identified, freely accessible, and linked to the affected article. The journal will maintain the original publication history and bibliographic information whenever possible.
CESJ follows the relevant principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when considering corrections, retractions, and other post-publication actions.
